1. Best area for indoor VG is one which receives reflection of sunlight and has proper circulation of air.

2. Fresh air areas should be first priority for indoor Vertical Gardens.

3. Packed rooms with poor ventilation or Air conditioned rooms should not be preferred for Vertical gardens.

1. An area receiving direct sunlight of morning and evening only, should be preferred for outdoor Vertical Garden.

Vertical gardens receiving direct sunlight throughout the day during summers results in burning of foliage of vertical garden plants which brings down the show of a Vertical Garden. 

There are some plants that can withstand the fully outdoor condition during summers.

Plants for Vertical Garden that can withstand outdoor summer condition: Portulaca, Jade, Rhoeo, Lantana, Alternanthera varieties are best suited Plants for such conditions.


POTTING MEDIA

Potting media for vertical garden plants should be light weight, porous, well drained and nutritious.

pH of Media should be neutral.

Soil based Media Combinations:

1. Soil + Cow Dung (Well Rotten) + Cocopeat
2. Soil + Vermicompost + Cocochips
3. Soil + Cocopeat + Vermicompost

Soil-less Media Combinations:

1. Cocopeat +  Vermicompost + Perlite 
2. Cocopeat + Cocochips + Perlite



IRRIGATION

MANUAL IRRIGATION:

Its easy to irrigate vertical garden normally through shower by connecting sprinkler hose to water tap. It is the quickest way to irrigate plants but water consumption is high. Preferred for Small Vertical gardens in homes.

DRIP IRRIGATION:

Drip irrigation is the most efficient method to water plants. Consumption of water is low and loss of water is negligible. Preferred for Vertical Gardens at Railway Stations, Metro Pillars, Hotels, Airports, Hospitals, etc.


Pros:

1. Best method for fertigation (Fertilization + Irrigation)
2. Time Saving
3. Efficient use of water

Cons:

1. Pump is necessary to supply water
2. Costly for Small Vertical Gardens
